Why is Wataniya Telecom Harassing Customers?!?!

I generally don't post off-topic comments, but this problem is really irritating me!!

Recently I have been experiencing problems with my Wataniya Telecom mobile line. The problem is that "if I call anyone and the conversation stretches beyond 5 mints the line gets automatically disconnected."
Does anyone experience the same problem??? Does anyone know if the problem is real, i.e. difficulty with company's network? Or is the company doing it deliberately??

Earlier when incoming call were made free, these telecom companies had started a system of not easily allowing to get through from land line to mobiles.

Is this new way of harassing customers?!?

If any one is not aware, please note that the Telecom co.'s in Kuwait are amongst the most expensive in the world, looking from the perspective of customer charges. (http://www.arabianbusiness.com/541127?tmpl=print&page=).

I request all of the people to join hands and fight back so that  the problem is  fixed for once and all - in order to have an undisturbed conversation.

Please try to post your comments and forward the post to your friends  in order to FIGHT BACK!!!

I'll make sure that all your efforts, i.e.  comments are forwarded to the Management of the company in order for them to TAKE QUICK ACTION.

Just remember, "more the comments, quicker will be the action!!!"

  1. Agreed, this is being deliberately done by the company to reduce call traffic during peak hours. Calls get disconnected abruptly after 5 minutes especially during evening times. Also it will happen mostly in case of a virtual free call i.e. call received on cellphone from a landline. It wont be disconnected if you were calling someone from your cellphone though.
However, you can't prove it. Better option is to switch over. Zain isn't doing it yet. Neither is VIVA.

  3. I do not use my mobile that frequently for calling and my calls (in / out) generally do not go beyond 2 mins. So I cannot verify if what is happening to you is deliberate.

As for calling a Wataniya number from a landline, this is a real pain. It mostly will simply not go through! A friend of mine in Zain was saying that the present systems cannot handle the traffic. But why is it when we make a wataniya mobile to mobile call, it goes through. Is it because it's on the same network?

I don't blame you for being suspicious of these providers. Transparency in costs is always lacking. For eg. Initially, calls used to be charged by Wataniya based on pulse (15 secs) from the first minute. But then they changed it to pulse (still 15 secs) only from the second minute. So if you speak for 1 sec, you will be charged for the whole minute. But when this change was implemented, no information was passed directly to their subscribers (as far as I know). They say it was published in some newspapers.

Then point of the story is due to lack of tranparency, they do not earn the trust of their subcribers. It is a monopoly of 3 telcom companies, so they take advantage.

Hope one day, this market opens up and then 'customer will be king'.
